Washout and General Cleaning Hand Brushes

Choosing a washout brush

Choose a brush size and shape that gives access around settings, recesses and detailed surfaces. Natural and nylon bristle options are available, along with hand brushes in several shapes. Match the bristle firmness to the piece, particularly when cleaning delicate finishes or working around stones.

Cleaning between polishing stages

Remove polishing residue before moving from tripoli to rouge so coarse compound does not contaminate the final polish. Use a suitable cleaner and a clean brush, then rinse thoroughly. Check that the cleaning method is suitable for the metal, stones and any treatments. See our cleaners and supplies for cleaning products, or hand scratch brushes for brushing and surface preparation.
