Controlled Flux Application

Choose a brush that lets you reach the joint comfortably and apply the amount of flux required. Dry-fit and clean the components before fluxing, and follow the flux manufacturer's instructions for the metal and solder being used. Apply flux before heating and keep the brush clear of the flame.

Keeping Flux Brushes Clean

Keep separate brushes for flux, anti-flux and other bench liquids to avoid cross-contamination. Clean the brush using the method recommended for the product you have applied, and store it so the bristles retain their shape. Replace brushes when the tip becomes damaged or clogged and no longer gives controlled application.
